Northwest Ohio Chapter
Welcome!
The purpose of the Northwest Ohio Chapter is to create a local organization the alumni in the Northwest Ohio area can join to participate in celebrating Penn State University, promote the University to local students and to support the PSU Athletes as they compete in the Big Ten.
Since we are located between the Ohio State University, the University of Michigan and Michigan State we are here to fly the flag of the Nittany Lions in hostile territory.
The Chapter area consists of the Ohio counties of Williams, Fulton, Lucas, Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa, Seneca, Hancock, Henry, Defiance, Paulding, Van Wert, Putnam, Wyandotte and Crawford.

NW OHIO CHAPTER OF THE PENN STATE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES FOR 2010
The scholarship is a one-year scholarship awarded annually to NW Ohio local area students who will be attending Penn State in the coming school year (2010-2011).
Guidelines and criteria regarding the scholarships are as follows:
1. All NW Ohio area students who will be attending Penn State in the coming school year, freshman through graduate students, are eligible, except those participating in varsity NCAA-sanctioned sports
2. Selection of the recipients of the scholarships is the sole responsibility of the NW Ohio PSU Alumni Club’s Scholarship Committee.
3. The scholarships will be awarded based primarily on academic achievement, school and community activities, the recipient’s commitment to continuing his or her education toward a definite career goal, and financial need.
4. Applicants should complete the attached Application Form and submit that form together with a letter of no more than two pages to the committee explaining his or her plans for the future, basis of need, and highlights of academic and other achievements and activities. Applicants must also include a copy of their most recent transcript - high school or college - including SAT or ACT scores if a 2010 high school graduate.
5. Letters of application for the 2010 scholarships must be mailed to the Scholarship Committee, PSU NW Ohio Chapter, c/o McGrath, 326 Valley Lane, Perrysburg, OH 43551, no later than May 1, 2010.
6. The committee may elect to conduct personal interviews of selected applicants. (Obviously, this letter is a very important part of the selection process, and we do take off for spelling and grammar.)
7. Scholarship recipients will be selected and notified as soon as possible following the personal interviews.
8. Each scholarship recipient receives the scholarship following the successful completion of his or her Fall semester at Penn State, and certification that he or she is enrolled for the Spring semester. A copy of this information should be sent to the Club as soon as possible following the Fall semester.
9. Any questions regarding this process may be directed to Valerie McGrath, Scholarship Committee Chairperson, mcgrath@buckeye-express.com.
