Alumni Activities

Monroe Alumni Association hosts fourth annual Florida Reunion

The Alumni Association hosted a special reunion at the Hollywood Suite at Universal in Orlando Florida on March 5, 2011. Graduates travelled from across the country to network and hear about the latest developments at the college. After the cocktail and dinner reception, a private tour guide took alums to an exciting performance of Blue Man Group Tubes.

St. Lucia Alumni Association elects officers

The St. Lucia Alumni Association, which is the largest branch chapter, has recently elected officers to the board. Joshua Vernor, President; Joan Small, Vice-President; Alona Greenidge, Public relations Officer; Alona Duplessis, Event Coordinator; Gaspard George, Training Coordinato;, Sharlene Dujon, Treasurer; and Zizi Pitcairn, Secretary. The formation of the new alumni chapter was kicked off with its first event at the Royal by Rex Resort on March 5, 2011 with over 100 people in attendance.

Bronx Museum Tour Fall event

This past fall, the Monroe College Alumni Association kicked off the season with a cocktail reception on the loft level of the Bronx Museum followed by a privately guided tour of the exhibits at the museum. The event was catered by Don Concoqui and Willie Rodriguez and his steel band entertained during the cocktail hour. The exhibits that were showing at that time were the Urban Regeneration, by Linda Cunningham, Yankee Stadium, Jeff Cheng-Hsing Liao, Lobby-for-the Time Being A project by Acconci Studio and Urban Archives—Asian and Asian-American Art from the permanent collection.

Culinary

After a grueling weekend of preparation, the Monroe College culinary students made an outstanding showing in the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique 142 Annual Salon of Culinary Arts at the Jacob Javits Center. Top honors went to Amanda Guzman for her seafood platter, Rosalyn Early for her seafood hors d'oeuvres, and Kareem David for his game platter. Special recognition goes out to the coaches—Chef Pellizzari and Chef Wong who put in many hours of their time and expertise.
